Lindy Hop & Balboa Workshop Weekend
With Davis, Claudia, and Valerie

| Lindy Hop is one of the original swing dances. This workshop day is for intermediate and advanced dancers. You are expected to already know the basics of lindy. Partners will be rotated. The instructors are available for limited private lessons. Housing available for out of towners. Claudia Joyal-Laplante is a lindyhop dancer, performer and instructor from Montreal, Canada. We are thrilled to welcome Claudia back for another Pittsburgh workshop. Claudia wowed us last time with her exciting Montreal style. She is a member of the Swing Air Force and Ninjammerz performing troupes. Davis Thurber, is back to visit and we sure have been missing him. He is an excellent instructor, and has numerous awards in Lindy such as 1st place (with Claudia!) in the 2009 Jack and Jill at the Canadian Swing Championships. Also now a member of the Ninjammerz, he and Claudia are now working together teaching and competing. Valerie Salstrom, of Cleveland is one of America's busiest Lindy and Balboa teachers. Valerie has a reputation for her finesse on the dance floor. She emphasizes musicality and connection regardless of the style of swing. Valerie has numerous 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in many of the top dance vents. Highlights include 2003 National Jitterbug Championships (NJC) Grand Slam Championship, became both the 2004 NJC Balboa Champions and the 2004 American Lindy Hop Championships (ALHC) American Showcase Champions and recently, (in 2008) first place in the International Balboa Championship at Balboa Rendezvous. |

May 2nd is also the day of the Pittsburgh Marathon. Wightman School is several blocks outside of the Marathon route and the workshops should not be impacted. Traffic might be greater than usual for a Sunday on the highways. If you live inside the Marathon route, there are routes to get outside the Marathon route using the highways.
